Rutgers IEEE Robotics uses Solidworks to model and design our robots before we build them.  In this section, we have attached various CAD models of components that we have made.  Feel free to download them and use them in your own designs.  The current list of parts is small but growing.

These CAD models were made with either Soldiworks 2008 or 2005.  If you would like to use Solidworks but do not have a copy, Solidworks 2008 is installed on the DSV computers and EIT computers in the Engineering building.

If you would like to contribute a CAD model simply log in and go to the Add attachment button at the bottom of this page.

Solidworks allows you to go from 3d models of parts like this Mag Motor....

To robots like this :

Building a detailed 3D cadmodel of your robot is the BEST way to plan your robot.  It allows you to visualize your design before you build it and waste materials.  It allows you to make sure all your components fit together.  Furthermore, the CAD data can then be used to generate CNC g-code to machine the parts using a CNC mill.

A Battlebot built using Solidworks and CNC machining by Vadim Chernyack, Brian Benson, and John Morgan

This Robot, Professor Chaos, was built by Vadim Chernyack, Brian Benson and John Morgan using Solidworks.  This robot is a prime example of the sophistication and detail that using a 3d Design program along with CNC maching allows.  Professor Chaos won 1st in the 120lb Battlebot Class at RoboGames 2008
