Sponsorship Decals are In!

In order to properly express our gratitude to all of our sponsors, we needed to make sure that we produced the highest quality decals for placing on Navi - our entry to the 2012 Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition this coming June In Rochester, MI. In order to complete this task we reached out to Sticker You and asked for a sponsorship for printing out decals for all of our sponsors. I'd like to present the final result, and boy are we excited to have these decals on our robot!

Rutgers IEEE would like to express a huge thank you to Sticker You for providing this service and we highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to print stickers, decals, and everything in between. Thank you Sticker You!

Navi's First Test Drive in 2012

We recently took Navi, our entry into the 2012 Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition, out for a test drive with the new motor controllers and velocity control loops. Besides a few kinks, we were very happy with the robot's performance and are in the process of mounting and testing the final sensors. We're looking forward to seeing Navi come to life in an autonomous test drive in the next few weeks.

Here is a video of the teleoperated test drive:

InterviewStreet Programming Competition Results: 8th Place

InterviewStreet

The results are out for the first InterviewStreet campus challenge. Our team was comprised of around ten students, mostly majoring in electrical and computer engineering and computer science. During the ten hour competition we wrote programs that: (1) played dots and boxes, (2) played antichess, and (3) automatically generated fake album covers. Our programs were then pitted against those written by other universities.

This was the final leaderboard with scores following the template (total, dots and boxes / antichess / album artwork):

  1. Princeton University (245, 106/68/61)
  2. Duke University (234, 102/86/46)
  3. UCSD (233, 96/83/54)
  4. UFL (219, 106/67/46)

As the form says, the election will be held during our regularly scheduled general body meeting on Thursday, 4/19. We will update this post up with more details about the election closer to that date.

Engineering Majors Night

Last Monday (March 26th, 2012), a few of our members attended Engineering Major's night. We joined HKN and other members of the Electical and Computer Engineering comunity at Rutgers in representing our major's offering to Freshmen engineers. We brought our current iteration of Navi, our entry in the IGVC competition, along with several of our smaller projects to the event.
